Flugal Horn - Caroline Farren
 
Caroline Began playing at the age of 8 through the rich brass band community in West Lothian and held the position of principal cornet at both the West Lothian schools band and NYBBS for six years.  Her first contesting band was Broxburn Silver where she spent several years before joining Unison Kinneil band on repiano, and later taking up the same seat at Scottish co-op.  Last year Caroline helped the band with her versatility, by playing soprano for the West Lothian Challenge and British Open, before moving to principal cornet for the Scottish open in November 2007.  She is currently studying towards a Masters degree in performance from the RSAMD, and already holds a BMus (hons) degree and Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction.  Caroline is a freelance musician and brass instructor and regularly performs with the BBC SSO, Scottish Ballet and Scottish Opera as well as appearing with her brass quintet, Alba Brass, via the Live Music Now! Scotland scheme.
