Michael Fowles to conduct Scottish CO-OP at Scottish Open Championship

On 21st November, 2008, the Scottish Co-op Band  announced that Michael Fowles had agreed to conduct the band at the Scottish Open Championships in Perth on 29th November, 2008.

This was the first time that band and conductor had worked together and band members looked forward with keen anticipation to the results of the partnership.

A former trombonist with the Britannia Building Society (Fodens) Band, Michael's conducting career began in 1995 as Musical Director of the Point of Ayr Band from North Wales. He is currently Musical Director of Stockport Brass (formerly BT Band) and of the Ratby Co-operative Band.

Speaking prior to the competition,  Michael said of St. Magnus and of the band  "This is a great piece of music, the band is a great band and I am really very much looking forward to the rehearsals and the performance".
