Scottish CO-OP Band visits Paisley
On Sunday, 14th December, 2008 the Scottish Co-op Band appeared in its penultimate concert performance of the year at Paisley Town Hall as guests of the Paisley Philharmonic Choir. The occasion was the choir's 20th anniversary Family Carol Concert.
Playing to a near-capacity audience, band and choir provided a wide-ranging programme of Christmas and other music interspersed with combined contributions by choir, band and audience who joined in several "Carols For All".
Caroline Tennant, the band's soprano cornet player also delighted the audience with a performance of the solo "Demelza" by Hugh Nash.
The band, conducted by Raymond Tennant and the choir, conducted by Ian S. Anderson and accompanied by Bill Ritchie on the piano, covered Christmas carol music under the headings of classical, traditional British, contemporary and Christmas Pops and at the conclusion of the evening's musical menu, and after the almost obligatory performance of the "Schneewalzer", everyone in the hall joined forces to sing "Adeste Fideles" to bring the evening to a magnificent close.
