Giliian Forsyth returns to Scotish CO-OP
On 19th November, 2008, the Scottish Co-op Band announced the return of Gillian Forsyth to the baritone section after an absence of some years. Gillian's last performance with the band was in 2000 and her return was a great boost to the band prior to its participation in the Scottish Open Championships in Perth later in the month.
Gillian, who joined the band while still at school, said "I have the dubious honour of being the longest-serving female member of the band". She continued "I had the good fortune to have played with the band when it became the first Scottish band to win the National Championship of Great Britain in 1990 and again in 1996 and I was able to participate in its tour of Australia and New Zealand. I am absolutely delighted to be back for the forthcoming Scottish Open".
Gillian's return meant that she was once again teamed up with Lorraine Bisson who formed the other part of the National Championship-winning baritone section.
