Another First For Scottish Co-op Band

At the Scottish Brass Band Championships in Dundee on 22nd March, 2009 the Scottish Co-op Band added another first to its impressive record when it became the first band to win the new James Abbott Memorial Trophy. The trophy was presented by Mrs. Hilary Abbott, the wife of the late President of the Scottish Brass Band Association who died in 2008. James Abbott served the brass band movement for around 60 years. He joined the Executive of the Scottish Brass Band Association in 1949 and served as as Secretary and President for 13 years and 38 years respectively.
