Jim Hayes Returns To The Co-operative Funeralcare Band

The Co-operative Funeralcare Band is pleased to announce the return to its ranks of cornet player Jim Hayes after an absence of some eighteen months.

Jim, who held the principal cornet position with the band under its former name, the Scottish Co-op Band, for a period of five years, returns to take over the same position at a crucial time in the band’s calendar. He will lead the band at the forthcoming Land O’ Burns contest in Troon later this month and at the British Open Championship in Birmingham in September, 2009 and The National Championships of Great Britain in October, 2009. Jim’s last performance as a full member of the band was at the British Open Championship in 2007 and since that time he has appeared as a guest with the band at the Scottish Open Championship in 2008 and in the West Lothian Festival of Brass competition when it emerged as winners for the third time in 2008.

Speaking of his return Jim said “I’m really chuffed to be back among a great bunch of people and am looking forward to the musical challenges ahead”. Needless to say, the band is delighted to see Jim back leading the team and is looking forward with keen anticipation to what is hoped will be a successful contesting season.
