On Tuesday,16th December, 2008 the Scottish Co-op Band appeared in its final concert of the year at the City Halls in Glasgow along with the Scottish Concert Singers and members of the Barrhead Philharmonic Choir.
Playing to a near- capacity audience, band and choirs provided a wide-ranging programme of Christmas and other music interspersed with combined contributions by choir, band and audience who joined in several "Carols For All".
The combined forces of band and choirs were conducted by Colin McKenzie and provided a concert of well-loved and popular Christmas music which included, among others, Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride". "Twelve Days of Christmas" (which had members of the audience participating and indulging in a fair amount of physical exercise as they stood up and sat down in accordance with the conductor's instructions) and Adam's "O Holy Night", the performance of which was greatly enhanced by the solo singing of soprano Joanne Boag. The accompanist for the choir-only items was John Gormley.
At the conclusion of the evening's musical menu, everyone in the hall joined forces to sing "Adeste Fideles" to bring the evening to a most satisfactory close.
