Statement Issued Concerning The European Brass Band Championships of 2010

Following discussions between the Executive Committee of the Co-operative Funeralcare Band and the management of the band’s sponsors, it has been decided that the band will not take up the invitation to compete, as Scottish champions, in the European Brass Band Championships which are to be held in Linz, Austria in 2010.

A combination of factors has led to this decision being taken and these include not only matters of finance but also the demands of the band’s projected concert and domestic contest schedule in the early part of 2010.

The Scottish Brass Band Association has been informed of the decision and no further statement will be issued by the band regarding this matter.
